Pakistan's sprinter Gohar Shahbaz performed exceptionally in the 100m race in the ongoing Asian Games and secured his place in the discipline’s semi-final in Hangzhou, China, on Friday.

Gohar was competing in the 100m heat and he finished 4th with his timing of 10.56 seconds. It was his best of this season that helped him confirm his place in the semi-final.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s top athlete Shajar Abbas could not perform up to the mark in the 100m heat and failed to qualify for semi final. Everyone expected him to go for the medal but he finished sixth with his timing of 10.59.

On the other hand, both of Pakistan’s female sprinters, Arooj Kiran and Tameen Khan, were not able to go beyond the first round in the 100m race.

In the first heat of 100m, Kiran recorded her personal best timing of 12.04 seconds but that wasn’t enough as she finished sixth.

In another 100m heat, Tameen also finished sixth with her timing of 12.42. Both Pakistani sprinters competing in the 100m heat couldn’t finish in top eight.

Meanwhile, in women’s 400m heat, Pakistan’s Sahib e Asra narrowly missed out on qualification in the final as she finished just 0.17 seconds behind the last sprinter that qualified. She completed the distance of 400m in 55.18 seconds and finished third in her heat.

In the men’s 400m heat, Pakistan’s Asad ur Rehman disappointed and finished sixth with his timing of 48.60 seconds.

In the women’s 10,000-meter race, Farhat Bano finished last as she completed the allocated distance in 44 minutes and 32 seconds. However, this was her personal best in the 10,000-meter race.
